MOLLY is a 7-year-old black and white terrier mix with a nice, calm temperament. She's a laid-back girl looking for a quiet home where she can relax and enjoy life! Half of Molly's adoption fee has been donated by a volunteer. Please click here for more information.

MASON is a pure white pit bull terrier mix. He is 2-3 years old, and is an incredibly sweet dog. Macy was found in an abandoned home in Baltimore City - near death due to starvation. He has recovered BEAUTIFULLY under foster care and is now ready to find his FOREVER home! Some images may be disturbing.

Before Visiting Us
If you rent, make sure your apartment is pet-friendly. Ask your landlord about pet policies.

To make sure you're ready to bring your new pet home, have these items on hand:

    • Food and food bowls
    • Leash and collar (for dogs)
    • Litterbox and litter (for cats)

Choosing a Pet
To meet our dogs and cats, visit us on Saturdays between 10 am - 2 pm for our Open House Adoption Day, or call us at 410-465-4350 to schedule an appointment.

All members of your family must meet the animal before the adoption is finalized.

Applying for Your New Pet
Once you have chosen a pet you would like to adopt, you will need to fill out an adoption application. If you would like to fill out the adoption application in advance, you can download an application by clicking on the links below.

    • Dog Application
    • Cat Application

Adoption Fees
Fees vary by pet based on the medical services each animal has received. Please note that the cost of the adoption donation required is a direct reflection of shelter costs and lack of financial support.

Puppies & Kittens
If you've adopted a puppy or kitten, we require that you will have your pet spayed or neutered when it is old enough for the procedure, and to provide documentation of the spay or neuter. Remember, the Animal Welfare Society offers low-cost spay and neuter services!

Taking Your New Pet Home
When you're the proud new parent of a dog, cat, puppy, or kitten, you'll feel like there's a whole lot you'll need to learn — fast! We provide each adopter with a basic guide to pet ownership that will get them off to a great start. The guides include information about registering your pet in the state of Maryland, with specific information for Howard County. Copies of the guide can be downloaded here:

"Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the other dogs. Dogs that other people may have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, and ineffectively trained. Many Rescue dogs have had it. Some have been pushed from one lousy situation to another. Some have never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. Some have lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. Some are scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have nearly given up.

"But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know every dog deserves a second chance and is grateful when they've been given one. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to Rescue in the hopes of getting a 'bargain,' or indeed of 'getting' anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life — and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this — a Rescue dog will make you a better person."
